First Year Experience Coordinator & Interim Assistant Dean, Honors College
"Dr. Krouse is a dynamic teacher and caring mentor who works harder than anyone. She makes the Honors College a thriving learning environment and has been instrumental to the growth and success of so many NKU graduates."
What is your favorite thing about NKU?
My favorite thing about NKU is the students I teach in the Honors College and, though less frequently these days, in the English department. I am always impressed with their creativity and curiosity, and I love that I get to spend every day talking to them about interesting things.
Where is your favorite spot on campus? What makes that spot so special?
My favorite spot on campus is the lake. When things are especially hectic, it’s nice to be able to take myself for a walk to get some sunshine and clear my head. It’s also a nice place to have a walk with friends or students!
What’s the first word that comes to mind when you think about NKU?
Persistence.
What is your favorite way to spend your free time?
My favorite way to spend time is in the kitchen. There is nothing I love more than cooking an elaborate meal for people I love. And pandemic precautions finally gave me an incentive to learn to bake fancy desserts and bread.
What is your greatest passion?
My greatest passion in my professional life has to be mentoring students and helping them to achieve their goals—not just in my classroom but as whole people who have the potential to do great things both personally and professionally. While I enjoy many of the other things I do at NKU, that is the thing that I care the most about and that makes me feel like my work is meaningful.
Tell us anything else about yourself and/or NKU that you want folks to know.
NKU truly transforms students’ futures. This is a campus where professors call on students by name and where there are so many opportunities for students to engage deeply with new ideas, new approaches to problems, and new possibilities for innovation. My work in the Honors College really has helped me to appreciate all of what is best about this very special campus. #NKUHonors #NKUEnglish
