ENV 220 Protecting Water Resources

Thank you to all who make this philanthropy opportunity available to our students. Incorporating the MSPP into this course allows students to see the knowledge content about the importance of access to clean water applied to the region we live, work and play in. Through the MSPP opportunity, we bring local water stewards into the classroom to interact with students and provide examples of all the hard work going on in our region. Not only does this allow students to better understand and retain the course information, but they also gain an appreciation for the work of local nonprofit organizations.

“The  MSPP taught me a lot about the value of water resources and the efforts made  by many nonprofits and NGOs in order to ensure that everyone has access to clean drinking water. It was fascinating for me to learn the variety of ways that nonprofit organizations contribute to this area, especially in the sense of maintaining water resources. Of all the organizations that we interviewed and interacted with, none of them had any sort of overlap with each other. Yet, all of them made very valuable contributions to NKY’s watersheds and environments as a whole.  I have never had the opportunity to help decide who receives an award like this. To have a voice in deciding who I felt was most qualified to receive this fund was a very educational and enjoyable experience.” - ENV 220 student on their experience with MSPP

The kindness and generosity was so much appreciated. Our gardens needed water access. With this funding we can get rain barrels and add water access to our gardens. Thank you so much for the work the volunteers did as well.
