Placemaking Program

What is placemaking?

Placemaking involves creating or designing public spaces based on the needs and desires of those in the community. We will use placemaking to make our NKU community what we want it to be and represent who we are and what we value.

As part of the Common Experience, there are a series of campus-wide opportunities for placemaking. With Placemaking, First-Year Experience seeks to award funding to organizations or classes to commence a project centered around placemaking.

Each year, submissions come in and are reviewed. Placemaking Projects that are chosen are awarded up to $400 to pay for approved supplies for their project.

Submissions open at the beginning of November and close on February 15 yearly. All Placemaking Projects chosen will be notified by February 20 and implemented in March and April.
