Ohio Tuition Reciprocity

Effective Fall 2019, new students may qualify for Ohio Tuition Reciprocity if they meet all of the following criteria:

• Currently reside in one of the applicable counties in southwest Ohio: Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Fayette, Hamilton, Highland, or Warren county.
• Have earned an Associate degree from the University of Cincinnati (including Blue Ash College, Clermont College), Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, Southern State Community College, Miami University - Hamilton, Miami University - Middletown, or Clark State Community College.
• Are working toward your first Bachelor's degree at NKU and not majoring in one of the ineligible programs (Early Childhood Education or Nursing). 
• If you wish to be considered for Ohio Reciprocity, you must submit all official credentials indicating that you earned an Associate degree by the final deadline of August 1 (for Fall semester), December 1 (for Spring semester), or May 1 (for Summer semester). This agreement and/or rate are subject to change and/or may be discontinued at any time.

Award:  $2,500 annual ($1,250 per Fall and Spring)

Deadline: June 15 (for Fall semester)
                November 1 (for Spring semester)

• This scholarship is only for students transferring from the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.
• Students must meet all of the following requirements to be considered for the KCTCS Scholars Award:
• Applicant for the KCTCS Scholars Award must be a legal resident of the state of Kentucky.
• Must have completed at least 36 semester hours at an eligible KCTCS college (last attended must be KCTCS).
• Eligible for regular admission to a Bachelor's degree program at NKU with no further remediation required.
• Be academically eligible to return to prior institution and have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Remain in good standing at NKU as defined by the satisfactory progress guidelines used for financial aid eligibility.
• Must have never enrolled as a degree seeking student at NKU.
• Transfer to NKU in either Fall or Spring semesters and enroll in at least 12 credit hours in both Fall and Spring semesters.
• Student must not be seeking Post-Baccalaureate credit hours and/or a second Bachelor's degree.
• Limited number of KCTCS Scholars Awards available. Preference may be given to students with the highest GPAs and total credit hours earned. Students must gain admission to NKU and submit the application by June 15 for Fall, and November 1 for Spring semester.
• Students in Online Accelerated programs are not eligible for the KCTCS Scholars Award.

Effective Fall 2019: Out-of-state transfer students transferring directly from the Kentucky Community Technical College System (KCTCS) with an earned associate degree with a 2.0 GPA or greater will be eligible for in-state tuition rates. Students must be first-time transfer students to NKU and enroll full-time.

Out-of-state transfer students not transferring directly from the Kentucky Community Technical College System (KCTCS) and earning a 2.0 GPA or greater and who reside in select counties listed below in Ohio or Indiana may also be eligible to receive a $5,200 award.

Ohio: Adams, Brown, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clermont, Clinton, Cuyahoga, Darke, Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Greene, Hamilton, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Licking, Lorain, Pike, Preble, Madison, Miami, Montgomery, Pickaway, Ross, Scioto, Union, Warren

Indiana: Clark, Hamilton, Marion

Award:  $2,000 annual ($1,000 per Fall and Spring)   

Deadline:  August 1 (for Fall)   December 1 (for Spring)

• This award is only for students transferring to NKU who live out-of-state, i.e. do not live in the state of Kentucky.
• Students must meet all of the following requirements to be considered for the Out-of-State Transfer Award:
• Be a resident of any state except Kentucky in the United States, or be an international student.
• Receive a final Transfer Credit Evaluation from NKU consisting of at least 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of credit from a regionally accredited institution(s), which is equal to or greater than junior status.
• Be academically eligible to return to prior institution and have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
• Be admitted with no restrictions or academic deficiencies into a Bachelor's degree program at NKU.
• Must have never been previously enrolled at NKU as a non-degree, degree seeking, or consortium student.
• Must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours in both Fall and Spring semesters.
• Students may not be eligible to receive the Out-of-State Transfer Award if they are eligible to receive the Indiana Rate, Ohio Reciprocity tuition rate, are admitted to any PACE or online programs, transferring from a KCTCS Institution, or have already received a Bachelor's degree.

Continuing Student Scholarships

Deadline:  January 13 (for Fall semester)

Northern Kentucky University awards several academic scholarships each year to continuing students. The process is very competitive. Generally, students with outstanding academic merits will receive scholarship consideration.

How to Apply for Grants & Loans

More than 70% of students at Northern Kentucky University receive financial aid. Grants and student loans can help cover the cost of tuition, room and board, and books. In order for the Office of Student Financial Assistance at NKU to determine your eligibility for financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online.

Student Employment Listings

NKU students have various employment opportunities while attending classes on campus. You can find a job working in almost any NKU department. Most offices hire student employees every semester, and better yet, they work around your class schedule. In order to be eligible for Student Employment positions, you must be a degree seeking student and you must enroll in at least 9 credit hours each semester (excluding Summer semester) at Northern Kentucky University.
