Welcome, New Residents!

Welcome to the Spring Semester, we’re excited to welcome you to your new home at Northern Kentucky University!

We can’t wait to have you on campus and part of our community. Be sure to check your NKU email regularly for updates and reminders as your move-in day approaches.

Before You Arrive

Make sure the following steps are complete before move-in:

• You are enrolled in at least one credit hour for the Spring 2026 semester.
• All housing and tuition balances are paid or arranged through Student Account Services.
• You’ve received your housing assignment via the Housing Portal.
• You have your NKU All Card (student ID) or know where to pick it up upon arrival.
• Students may not move in earlier than January 11 without approval from University Housing. Requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Checking In

When you arrive on campus:

• Go directly to your residence hall’s front desk.

• Staff will verify your housing assignment and issue your room key.

• You’ll complete your Room Condition Report (RCR) through the Housing Portal within 24 hours of moving in.
  • If you notice any damages when you arrive, take clear, date- and time-stamped photos and save them for your records. 
  • These photos can be used to appeal any incorrect damage charges at the end of the semester or when you move out.

If you have trouble accessing your building or room, on-call staff will be available to assist. There is a phone number posted in each hall for the corresponding on-call staff.

Returning Residents

If you are a returning resident transitioning from Winter Break Housing to your spring assignment, you will transition back into your room after the break period. Details will be emailed to you directly in early January. 

Students returning from break that did not reside on campus will have access to their rooms after Sunday, January 11 at 9 AM.
