Tornado Shelter Areas

In the event of a tornado warning, there are a number of specific safe areas that have been designated as a Tornado Safe Zone. When alerted by the campus alert systems all individuals are to go to the shelter designated for their particular building. Stay away from large open areas and exterior windows and doors. As always pre-planning for an event is highly recommended.

 

Tornado Shelter Areas

Building Location
Albright Health Center Move to interior hallways, 3rd floor should go to 2nd floor if time allows.
Truist Arena Move to interior room or corridor on lowest level (Follow Truist Arena procedures during an event).
Baptist Student Union Move to interior hallways. Stay away from windows and large open areas.
Business Academic Center Move to interior hallways, 3rd floor should move to 2nd floor if time allows.
Campbell Hall Move to lower level.  Go into classrooms on lower level if possible.  
Campus Recreation Center Move to interior hallways and rooms on the lower level. Stay away from large open areas and windows.
Ceramics and Sculpture Studios Move to interior hallways. Stay away from windows and avoid large open areas if possible.   
Corbett Theatre Move to interior hallway or corridor.
Fine Arts Center Move to interior hallways, 3rd floor should go to 2nd floor if time allows.
Founders Hall Move to interior hallways, 5th floor should go to 4th floor if time allows.  
Griffin Hall Move to interior hallways, 5th floor should go to 4th floor if time allows.  
Greaves Concert Hall Move to the nearest interior hallway or corridor.
Health Innovation Center Move to interior hallways of Founders Hall. Stay away from atrium area and windows.
Honors House Seek shelter in lower level.  Stay away from windows.
Landrum Academic Center Move to interior hallways, 5th floor should go to 4th floor if time allows.
Landrum Annex Seek shelter in tunnel area.
Lucas Administrative Center Move to interior hallways, 8th floor should go to 7th floor if times allows.
Math, Education, & Psychology Move to interior hallways, 4th floor should go to 3rd floor if time allows. 
Natural Science Center Move to interior hallways, 4th floor should go to 3rd floor if time allows. Stay away from atrium area.
Norse Commons Move to interior hallways.  Stay away from windows and large open areas.
Nunn Hall Move to interior hallways, 5th floor should go to 4th floor if time allows. Law Library should seek shelter at East side of lower level.
Regents Hall If time allows move to interior hallways of Albright Health Center. Otherwise move to floor level and stay close to walls.
Soccer Stadium Move to locker rooms on lower level.
Steely Library Seek shelter at West end of 1st or 2nd floor.  Stay away from atrium.
Student Union Move to interior room or corridor. Go to lowest level if time allows. Stay away from atrium area and windows.
University Center Move to interior hallways, 3rd floor should go to 2nd floor if time allows.
Welcome Center Move to the restrooms or an interior office.
