Utility Emergency

In the event of a loss of water or water leak:

• Contact Work Control at (859) 572-5660 during normal business hours.
• After hours, or weekends and holidays, contact the Power Plant at (859) 572-5548).
• Attempt to stop water from traveling by using rags, towels, carpets, etc.
• Do not walk in water if it has come in contact with any electrical equipment or outlets.
• Never place yourself in danger.

In the event of the loss of electric or an electrical hazard:

• Contact Work Control at (859) 572-5660 during normal business hours.
• After hours, or weekends and holidays, contact the Power Plant at (859) 572-5548.
• If someone is being electrocuted, shut off power only if you can do so safely and call 911 or (859)572-7777.
  
• Never place yourself in danger.
• Stay away from electrical hazards.
• Never attempt to move electrical wires.
• During an outage, access to buildings will be strictly limited to essential personnel and first responders.

After the power is restored:

• Verify that all equipment has restarted correctly.
• Inform your building manager or contact Work Control at (859) 572-5660 of any equipment that fails to restart, as a circuit breaker may need resetting.

Although most buildings do not have a natural gas connection, if natural gas is detected call 911 or (859) 572-7777.

• Never assume. If you think you smell natural gas call 911 or (859) 572-7777.
• Never place yourself in danger.
• Evacuate the area if necessary (see Evacuation Procedures).
• Notify others in the area by word of mouth.
• Never turn lights on or off, and never use cellular phones, radios, or the fire alarm if a gas leak is suspected.

If natural gas service is disrupted:

• Contact Work Control at (859) 572-5660 during normal business hours.
• After hours, or weekends and holidays, contact the Power Plant at (859) 572-5548.
