Subject: Congratulations to Mike Hales

Dear Campus Community:

It is with mixed emotions I share the news that Mike Hales, interim Vice President Administration & Finance/Chief Financial Officer will be leaving NKU to join the Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House Charities as its Chief Financial Officer. His last day with us will be December 3.

An NKU alumnus, Mike has served in a number of roles throughout his time at NKU, starting with the Chief Financial Officer providing financial strategy for the university and overseeing the University Budget Office and Office of the Comptroller. Three years later, he began serving as Co-interim Chief Administration Office, overseeing facilities and business operations in addition to the CFO duties. In August 2019, I asked Mike to serve as the interim Vice President Administration & Finance/CFO adding oversight of Information Technology and Human Resources to his other duties. He came to NKU with more than 25 years of financial experience at The E.W. Scripps Company.

I want to thank Mike for his steady and consistent leadership of Administration & Finance over the last six years. He guided NKU through the changing higher education landscape, including the university’s exit from the KERS retirement system. He also served as a key advisor as we navigated the pandemic and helped establish the financial support services for our students impacted by COVID-19.

Provost Matt Cecil is chairing the Vice President for Administration & Finance search committee and will update the campus as the search gets underway in the new year. It is my expectation that we will have finalists identified by the coming spring.

Please join me in wishing Mike well in his new endeavor.

Sincerely,

Ashish Vaidya
