Dear Campus Community:
It is with deep sadness that I share the passing of Alexander Hoffman last week. Alex was 24 and a sophomore enrolled in our History program. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Alex’s life partner, his family and friends.
Alex was a proud veteran, joining the U.S. Army after graduating from Ryle High School. He was a member of the 101st Airborne division stationed at Ft. Campbell and was deployed overseas twice. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Alex enrolled at NKU to major in history with a focus on military history. His professors describe Alex as someone who always greeted everyone with a smile. He enjoyed working with military artifacts and was an important contributor in discussions. He shared his experiences and insights to add to the class dialogue. When not attending classes at NKU or working part-time at the Burlington Animal Hospital, Alex enjoyed science fiction and fantasy movies, video games and board games. He was also interested in philosophy, biology and paleontology.

Alex is remembered as for his big voice and his sense of humor that always kept his family laughing. I send my deep sympathies to his family, friends and our campus community. Alex will be missed by his Norse family.
