Ralph was born in eastern Tennessee and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He joined the U.S. Army while a senior in high school and went off to basic training during the summer after graduating. He served over 20 years and retired as a First Sergeant promotable to Sergeant Major.
During his military service Ralph, primarily as a supply/logistics specialist, served with many different units to include: The Combat Development Experimental Cmd, Aviation, Tanks, Infantry, Cavalry Scout (basic training), the U.S. Armor school, Recruiting, Field Artillery, Military Police, Communications, Office of Defense Cooperation, an HHC DISCOM and finally HQ/A Co. of the 15th FSB.
During the 20+ years and the above assignments he was assigned to ten (10) different places, to include Ft. Ord, CA.; Kirchgoens, Germany; Ft. Knox, KY (x2); Indianapolis, IN; Teagu, Korea; Kilkis, Greece; Ft. McNair, MDW; Monterey, CA; Tunis, Tunisia; and Ft. Hood, TX.
Ralph’s range of trainings started with supply/logistics but grew to encompass a wide variety of things from Recruiting, Instructing, to French language and being a First Sergeant.
After retiring from the Army, Ralph has worked in a few different areas. He started as a logistics mgr. and moved on to high school teaching. From there was a brief stint in contracting and he now finds himself here at NKU working as the Veterans Resource Station (VRS) Coordinator.
Ralph’s civilian education includes an AA from Vincennes University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Mgt and French language from Excelsior/Regents college and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Miami University in Oxford, OH.
Ralph has always enjoyed working with and supporting students in their quest for education, and adding student veterans and their dependents is a major plus. He truly believes that education is the path to future success.
