VA Adaptive Housing: We offer grants to Servicemembers and Veterans with certain service-connected disabilities to buy or change a home to meet their needs and live more independently. Changing a home might involve installing ramps or widening doorways. If you’re a disabled Servicemember or Veteran, find out if you can get a grant to help meet your housing needs.

Other Local Programs: 

Habitat For Humanity: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati is a nonprofit Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate substandard housing locally and globally by building and renovating simple, decent, affordable homes to sell to low-income families in need. 

People Working Cooperatively (PWC): PWC provides thousands of low-income, elderly and disabled homeowners with a higher quality of living. Our professionally trained staff, along with thousands of volunteers, help residents with critical home repairs, energy conservation and weatherization, mobility modifications and maintenance services. 

VA Burial Benefits: Burial in a VA national cemetery is open to all members of the armed forces and veterans who have met minimum active duty service requirements, as applicable by law and were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. Members of the reserve components of the armed forces who die while on active duty under certain circumstances or who die while on training duty are also eligible for burial, as are service members and former service members who were eligible for retired pay at the time of their death. Spouses, minor children and, under certain conditions, dependent unmarried adult children are also eligible for burial even if they predecease the veteran.

VA Dependent or Survivor Benefits: The Veterans Benefits Administration offers a variety of benefits and services to spouses, children, and parents of service members and veterans who are deceased or totally and permanently disabled by a service-connected disability. 

VA eBenefits: Provides all your earned benefits offered by the VA (if eligible) and it gives veterans and their family’s access to manage them. You must apply for an account (can be accomplished at Local VA or online). 

VA Education Benefits: As a Veteran, you may be eligible for educational benefits through numerous GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. Once you’ve decided to use your GI Bill benefits GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs it’s important to choose the proper school and type of training. VA’s decision-making tools will help you get the most from your benefits. 

VA Home Loans: VA helps service members, veterans and eligible surviving spouses become homeowners. As part of our mission to serve you, we provide a home loan guaranty benefit and other housing-related programs to help you buy, build, repair, retain or adapt a home for your own personal occupancy. VA Home Loans are provided by private lenders, such as banks and mortgage companies. VA guarantees a portion of the loan, enabling the lender to provide you with more favorable terms. 

VA Life Insurance: As part of VA’s mission to serve service members, veterans and their families, VA provides valuable life insurance benefits to give you the peace of mind that comes with knowing your family is protected. VA’s life insurance programs were developed to provide financial security for your family given the extraordinary risks involved in military service. 

VA Medical Benefits: With VA health care, you’re covered for regular checkups with your primary care provider and appointments with specialists (like cardiologists, gynecologists, and mental health providers). You also gain access to home health and geriatric (elder) care, medical equipment, prosthetics, and prescriptions. Must apply for eligibility. 

VA Pension Benefits: VA's pension program provides monthly benefit payments to certain wartime Veterans with financial need, and their survivors. As veterans and survivors consider applying for these benefits, VA would like to share important information about the pension program and organizations offering assistance with pension applications. 

VA Vocational & Rehabilitation & Employment: You may receive Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) services to help with job training, employment accommodations, resume development and job seeking skills coaching. Other services may be provided to assist veterans in starting their own businesses or independent living services for those who are severely disabled and unable to work in traditional employment.
