Are you uploading your images correctly?

Before a document or image can be used on a page, it first must be uploaded to the Assets folder.  It is a repository for all images and documents that are used on the site.  Each department/office will have their own folder in which to store their assets.

It's important to upload your images to the digital assets manager in AEM rather than on the page itself. This is why:

  • When an image is uploaded to the page, it does not get processed for compression which can lead to the page taking too long to load. A long load time is not ideal for the user experience and can affect search results. Learn more about load time.
  • The image file also is stored on the page data rather than living on an image folder where it can be maintained later for updates.

Visit the user guide to get instructions on the various ways to properly utilize images in AEM.
