The ETS® Major Field Tests (MFT) are comprehensive undergraduate and MBA outcomes assessments designed to measure the critical knowledge and understanding obtained by students in a major field of study. The Major Field Tests go beyond the measurement of factual knowledge by helping evaluate students' ability to analyze and solve problems, understand relationships and interpret material from their major field of study.
NKU Testing Services offers the Biology, Computer Science and Mathematics Major Field Test. All exams take 2 hours to complete. See below for specific information about the Biology, Computer Science or Mathematics Major Field Test.
Appointments can be made by clicking on the "Register Now" button below. Please select Biology, Computer Science, or Mathematics and fill in the other information to confirm your date. There is no fee for these tests.
Students are only permitted to complete the MFT once. If approved by the department, students may retake the exam for a $43.50 fee. Testing Services must receive notification from the department that you are permitted to retake the MFT (emailed to testing@nku.edu). You must also choose 'Special Approval Only - MFT' from the exam list. You will not be allowed to retake the exam without permission from your department, registering correctly and paying the fee.

Interested in completing your MFT remotely? To test, you will need a computer (desktop or laptop) with a webcam and audio capabilities. Please also understand that the testing session will be remotely monitored and recorded by an NKU Testing Services staff member. Please email testing@nku.edu before registering to inquire about remote appointments.
The ETS® Major Field Test for Biology consists of 150 multiple-choice questions, a number of which are grouped in sets and based on descriptions of laboratory and field situations, diagrams or experimental results. Some of the questions within each of the major areas are designed to test analytical skills. This exam takes 2 hours.
Students must be currently registered in BIO 491 at NKU to take the Biology MFT.

The ETS® Major Field Test for Computer Science consists of 66 multiple-choice questions, some of which are grouped in sets and based on materials such as diagrams, graphs and program fragments.
Students must be currently registered in CSC 491 at NKU to take the Computer Science MFT.

The ETS® Major Field Test for Mathematics consists of 50 questions, some of which may be grouped in sets and based on such materials as diagrams and graphs. The questions are drawn from the courses of study most commonly offered as part of an undergraduate mathematics curriculum. This exam takes 2 hours.
Students must be currently registered in MAT 489 at NKU to take the Mathematics MFT.
