Colleagues:
In an email back in early December, I notified you that Senior Vice President Sue Hodges Moore had announced her retirement. I indicated in that email that I would provide you with additional information about the date of Sue’s departure, now set for February 28, and the transition plans for leadership of the division of Administration and Finance.
After consulting with campus administrators, board officers, and incoming President Ashish Vaidya, I have asked Lori Southwood, Chief Human Resources Officer, and Mike Hales, Chief Financial Officer, to provide co-leadership for the division. I am pleased to announce that they have agreed to serve in the capacity of Interim Chief Administration Officers, in addition to their current responsibilities.
Lori will provide leadership and oversight over the areas of Planning and Institutional Research, led by Shawn Rainey, and Information Technology, led by Tim Ferguson. Mike’s additional portfolio will include Business Operations and Auxiliary Services, led by Andy Meeks, and Facilities Management, led by Zaidi. Division leadership will continue to work together as a team firmly committed to service excellence and effective operations.
We will not proceed with a search for a new vice president at this time. This co-leadership arrangement keeps the division intact under strong interim leadership while providing an opportunity for our new president to have the time to review the current organizational structure of the division to determine whether to change it or maintain it in its current form prior to beginning a search.
I want to express my gratitude to Lori and Mike for their willingness to serve as co-leaders of the division during this transition period, especially during such financially challenging times. Our work over the coming months requires extraordinary leadership across the entire campus, and I am confident that the contributions and level of service from the Administration and Finance division will remain high.
