How to prepare for fall career fairs:

Dress professionally (suit is best, but business casual is acceptable - avoid jeans, t-shirts, caps, tennis shoes), bring multiple copies of your resume and your ALL CARD, and be prepared to speak with employers. Clothing does not have to be expensive. See Professional Clothing Resources for nearby thrift, consignment, and outlet stores.  Visit NKU's Care Closet for free clothing items.

Check out our Fall Programs (workshops covering resumes, job searching, etc.) and visit Career Services (UC 225) for assistance preparing for career fairs.  For feedback on your resume, email it to ResumeHelp@nku.edu and review our Resume Preparation Guide.

For tips, read Make the Most of the Career Fair. Research participating organizations prior to the fairs on HireNKU, the organizations' websites, the Career Fair Plus app, and Google.

IMPORTANT:

Upload your resume to Handshake and complete your Profile. Doing so gives employers the capability to search for your resume (and other qualified applicants) based on your Profile information. Have your resume professionally reviewed before uploading. To upload your resume, go to "Add Documents" on your profile.

Bring your ALL CARD so that a nametag can be quickly printed for you at the career fair(s) you attend. To ensure your nametag has your name, major, and graduation date listed correctly, you MUST update your profile on Handshake.

Call Career Services at 859-572-5680 if you have questions or if you require an accommodation based on a disability.
