Faculty

Head of Collections and Discovery Services

This faculty position is responsible for re-invigorating collections to meet the curriculum needs of all academic departments, both print and electronic. The position will be responsible for supervising faculty and staff, defining departmental goals, developing systematic assessment measures, refining workflows, and fostering an environment of collegiality, respect, and teamwork. Collections and Discovery Services includes acquisitions, cataloging, and discovery of print and e-resources, including special collections, university archives, records management, and government documents. The individual will also oversee the library’s resource management system, licensing, and budget monitoring. The position will play an active role in cultivating resources for diversity, inclusion, and equity to first generation, historically marginalized and underrepresented students.

Head of Special Collections and University Archives

This faculty position is responsible for department personnel, budgets, and financial expenses; all archival functions, including policy and procedure creation; management of the physical space and equipment assigned to the department; and security and physical safety of all department resources and collections. The University Archivist determines how the department directs its energy as it simultaneously supports the university strategic plan and library goals. The University Archivist advocates for department needs and promotes its expertise and resources internally, externally, and within the profession. Cataloging and Metadata Librarian

This faculty position is responsible for the vision, leadership, and strategic direction in metadata creation, organization, application, and management of current and emerging metadata schemas and techniques. The librarian will promote a culture of belonging by embracing equity, diversity, and inclusiveness in the library and across campus. As part of the Collections and Discovery Services Department, this position will be a pivotal player in providing accurate and timely access to all the library’s collections – circulating, repository, open access, special collections, and teacher resources. Online Learning Librarian

This faculty position is charged with leading, implementing, and sustaining library services, resources, and instruction for NKU faculty and students participating in online programs. This role will be engaged in NKU’s digital spaces and ensure our online, hybrid, and remote students have the necessary access to Steely Library. The librarian will raise awareness of library resources and services and seek out learning opportunities in the online learning environment. They will be responsible for developing a vision for digital learning objects and collaboratively working with Education & Outreach Services to create and maintain these objects. The Online Learning Librarian will collaborate with key partners across campus, including Center for Excellence in Teaching & Innovation (CETI), our instructional designers, Online and Professional Education, and colleagues within academic colleges focused on online education. Undergraduate Experience Librarian

This faculty position is responsible for developing, supporting, and sustaining library-related, student-centered programming for undergraduates. In this role, the librarian will participate in our one-shot instruction program, lead student-facing outreach efforts, and collaborate with campus partners including but not limited to Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, Institute for Student Research & Creative Activity, the Honors College, the Writing Center, and the Adult & Transfer Center.
