After the conclusion of the spring semester, Steely Library personnel, resources, and services will be temporarily relocating to the Landrum Academic Building. This 10-month relocation is due to forthcoming upgrades and updates to our heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.

To help keep campus up to date, we have published a webpage that will share the latest information on the building closure and relocation. In addition to the webpage, we have also published a series of frequently asked questions, based on conversations we had with campus colleagues this fall. We will continue to update our FAQs as we learn more and hear from campus. If after reviewing our webpage and FAQs you cannot find the answer you need, please share your question with us through our Library Relocation form

As Steely Library personnel plan for this relocation, we invite our campus colleagues to help us prepare for this move. As we will be returning to the Steely Library building in mid-semester of spring 2027, faculty and staff should consider what they need for summer 2026, fall 2026, and spring 2027. Due to space constraints in Landrum, we will only be taking a selection of our physical resources. To help us plan for what to bring over to Landrum, we encourage faculty and staff to:

  • Submit our Physical Item Request form by Friday, March 20 to request new physical Course Reserve items, books and media from our circulating collection, and Special Collections and University Archives materials that support teaching and research.
  • If you need physical items from our collection for research, we encourage you to check them out this spring. Faculty and staff due dates will be changed and items checked out this spring will not be due until May 2027.

If you do not share your request with us before March 20, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to bring your requested items over to Landrum. We appreciate your collaboration this spring as we prepare for our relocation. We will continue to share updates with campus through news stories, blurbs in the Academic Affairs Update newsletter, and through more targeted communication with campus stakeholders. We also invite your questions on this relocation through our Library Relocation form
