Dr. Michael C.C. Adams holds an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Sussex in the UK. He joined NKU’s history department in 1972 as a tenure-track faculty member and became a Regents Professor in 1996.
His primary area of interest is military history and early in his NKU career, Adams, along with other colleagues, developed a Military History Minor, a unique and popular offering for undergraduates. For many years, he also directed a Military History Lecture Series at NKU. Adams served NKU not only as an instructor but as an academic administrator, holding successive positions as Faculty Assistant to the President (A. D. Albright), Associate Provost for Graduate Studies, and a two-term chair of the History and Geography Department. He also held Commonwealth-wide appointments, including a term on the governing board of the Kentucky Humanities Council. He retired from NKU in 2003 as a Regents Professor of History.
