Summary: This collection contains correspondence and manuscript drafts relating to the publication of Susan S. Adams’s study of southern women writers, Moving On:  The Heroines of Shirley Ann Grau, Anne Tyler, and Gail Godwin, and her study of Anne Tyler entitled Loss and Decline in the Novels of Anne Tyler: The "Slipping Down" Life.

SCOPE AND CONTENT:

This collection contains correspondence and manuscript drafts relating to the publication of her study of southern women writers, Moving On:  The Heroines of Shirley Ann Grau, Anne Tyler, and Gail Godwin published by the University of Wisconsin Press and her study of Anne Tyler entitled Loss and Decline in the Novels of Anne Tyler: The "Slipping Down" Life. It also has articles written by Susan Adams and a clipping.     

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL SKETCH:

Susan S. Adams, formerly Susan S. Kissel, was hired around 1977 in the Department of Literature and Language (now English) at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). She developed several women’s literature courses and participated in many scholarly projects focusing on women’s literature, art, and history. She directed the university’s Women’s Studies Program from 1981-1985. Adams also co-developed the NKU Women’s Center in 1983 and served on its advisory board from 1984-1986.
