Steely Library welcomes Parnell Talley Jr from Lexington, KY, to the Access Services team. While attending law school at the University of Kentucky, Parnell capitalized on an opportunity to be a student worker at the law library. In this role, Parnell realized his desire to work with and mentor students, especially in a library setting. Impressed by NKU's commitment to student academic success, Parnell chose Steely Library as the next step in his career pursuit of helping students reach their goals.

Some of Parnell's interests include fantasy football, vegan food, and exploring new cities. Stemming from a childhood love of Randy Moss and the color purple, Parnell enthusiastically claims the Minnesota Vikings as his NFL team.

Parnell joined Steely on June 1st.

Brianna Marshall - Senior Associate Dean for Operations, Assessment, and Communications

Brianna Marshall was previously the Director of Research Services at the University of California Riverside Library. In close collaboration with the Research Services team, she oversaw the Creat'R Lab makerspace, research-related library service points, and a suite of faculty services and programs supporting data management, scholarly communication, digital scholarship, and geospatial information.

Inspired by NKU's focus on student success, Brianna looked to Steely Library for the next move in her career. She enjoys taking meandering road trips with her husband, Ragip, and kids, Dashiell and Zinnia, and can't wait to use northern Kentucky as a home base for future adventures.

Brianna joined Steely on June 1st.

Before joining us at Steely, Julia freelanced as a social media specialist and graphic designer, specializing in branding, copywriting, and Instagram content creation for mental health care providers and small business owners. Before freelancing, Julia served as an Air Defense Artillery officer in the U.S. Army, testing the latest software advances to the PATRIOT missile system and managing the training and evaluation of National Guard and Reserve units preparing for deployment.

Julia was led to Steely Library by the desire to work in an environment where people are building a better future for themselves and those around them. She enjoys destroying her husband's friends in fantasy football, creating strange creatures out of clay, and reading tales from the Appalachian Trail. She is currently on a quest to find the best chicken wings in Greater Cincinnati.

Julia joined Steely on July 12th.

Christian Sheehy is most recently coming to us from Xavier University Library, where he served as the Digital Initiatives Librarian since 2015. He has a range of experience with digital scholarship, including tools like Scalar and WordPress and integrating those tools within the curriculum. He managed Xavier's robust digital repository of more than 25,000 artifacts and created and managed Xavier Library's Makerspace, the first academic library makerspace in Cincinnati.

As a Norse undergraduate of 2004 and former preschooler on NKU’s campus, Christian feels right at home at Steely Library. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Christian played guitar and sang in a metal band. His other interests include hiking, birdwatching, photography, reading, and PC gaming.

Christian joined Steely on August 2nd

Hailley Fargo - Education and Outreach Services Department Head

Hailley Fargo was previously the Student Engagement Coordinator at Penn State University Libraries. Since 2017, she coordinated an aligned approach to student engagement within the Penn State Libraries. Her role involved working with library colleagues at 20 campuses to support undergraduate students outside of the classroom, such as the Libraries' Undergraduate Research Award: Excellence in Information Literacy and the Libraries' Short Edition program.

NKU's focus on being a student-ready institution and the collaborative spirit of Steely faculty and staff encouraged Hailley to leave Pennsylvania and begin a new role in northern Kentucky. Hailley has many interests outside of the library, including embroidery, baking, biking, hiking, playing the clarinet, and improv. As a proud member of the Bachelor Nation, Hailley listens to multiple recap podcasts and greatly enjoys recruiting new viewers.

Hailley joined Steely on August 9th.

We are thrilled to welcome the new staff and faculty to the Steely Library team and can’t wait to see what they accomplish!
