Steely Library is committed to supporting the growth of Open Educational Resources (OER) use across campus in order to support student success, social justice, and equity for students with unmet financial needs. To that end, a cross-institutional team led by the library has joined an AAC&U Institute on Open Educational Resources for the 2021-2022 academic year, to advance OER adoption, adaptation, and creation at NKU. Our approach is multi-faceted and will consist of an introductory workshop followed by the opportunity to apply for summer project grants.
Apply now to attend the introductory workshop, offered as a hybrid session from 2-4pm on February 25, 2022. The workshop will provide an overview of open educational resources, and participants will receive $200 in professional development funds. Accepted participants agree to attend the 2 hour workshop in order to grow their knowledge about OER; and develop and submit a brief reflection listing their next steps.
Please note that workshop attendance is not required to apply for a summer grant.
We hope to fund any teaching faculty member who wishes to join us for the OER workshops but spots are limited. For priority consideration, please apply by Friday, February 11; applications submitted after this date will be considered if additional spots remain. Selection of participants will be based on the overall quality of the application and those that demonstrate the most viability and impact. Both full-time and part-time instructors are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to applications that:
In late spring/summer 2022, project grants will be offered to instructors interested in adoption, adaptation, and creation of OER, each of which has an associated stipend incentive (see below). Instructors will receive customized consultative assistance provided by the institutional OER team and other library personnel. The application process for the OER project grants will open in spring/summer 2022.
