Library Fellowship for Undergraduate Students Now Accepting Applications

The Spring 2025 Library Fellowship for Undergraduate Students will accept applications through November 20, 2024. The Library Fellowship introduces undergraduate students to careers in academic librarianship, a challenging and rewarding field filled with mobility and advancement potential. Fellows have the opportunity to work closely with a mentor team of library faculty and staff during the Spring semester. Up to two fellows will be awarded $1,500 for 120 hours of participation in the program.  

Fellowship Eligibility Requirements: 

  • NKU undergraduate actively enrolled in classes
  • Able to commit 120 hours over the course of the Spring 2025 semester
  • Ability to contribute to the diversity of the field of academic librarianship, including but not limited to diversity of socioeconomic background, prior academic experiences, race, ethnicity, and first-generation status.

Open Educational Resources (OER) Fellowship

Overview:

Are you passionate about making education for you and your peers more affordable and accessible? As a Library Fellow, you’ll learn more about Open Educational Resources (OERs), which are free, openly licensed learning materials that can replace expensive textbooks. OERs allow students to focus on learning rather than the cost of their course materials. As the OER Fellow, you’ll have the chance to collaborate with librarians and instructors to find high quality OERs that you and your peers can use in future courses!

  • Learn about Open Educational Resources, the basics of copyright, and how you as a student can support this work
  • This Fellowship is a great fit for students interested in education, educational equity, open education resources, copyright, information organization, and library science.

Special Collections & University Archives Fellowship

Overview:

Are you interested in discovering stories in historical collections and learning how to share them with a wider audience? The Special Collections & University Archives Fellowship will give you hands-on experience and skills needed for careers in GLAM fields (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums). This Fellow will explore NKU’s unique archives and conduct independent research to create a digital presentation hosted in NKU’s Digital Repository. Along the way, you’ll build experience in archival research, appraisal, curation, and digitization!

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the archival process and skills in research with primary sources & unique collections
  • This Fellowship is a great fit for students interested in digital humanities, local history, research, digitization, archival processing
