On August 24th and 26th, FUEL NKU passed out free coffee, donuts, granola bars, and other snack essentials to students on the third floor of Steely Library.
Run by students, for students, FUEL NKU is the university’s on-campus food pantry nested inside of the Albright Health Center. Designed like a small grocery store with aisles filled with name-brand items, students can come in, shop around, and leave with bags of free fresh produce, refrigerated, frozen, and non-perishable food items, and hygiene products. All that is required is an active student status (currently enrolled in classes) and an NKU All Card.
What started as a single shelf in an office to provide food and essential items to a few students is now a 2,300 square-foot facility designed to ensure food security and enrich the lives of all NKU students through education, engagement, and advocacy.
The partnership between FUEL NKU and Steely Library is a step forward to increase visibility and campus awareness of NKU’s free services for students.
