Steely Library is the newest location on campus to provide FUEL UP bags by FUEL NKU to currently enrolled NKU students. FUEL NKU is Northern Kentucky University's on-campus food pantry run by students for students. The pantry offers fresh produce, refrigerated, frozen, and non-perishable food items, and hygiene products to all enrolled students at no cost.
The FUEL UP meal bags are a modification from last year's recurring popup table events. Instead of offering free single items, students receive an entire meal bag, including an on-the-go meal, a drink, and three snacks. To benefit the greatest number of students, FUEL UP bags are divided into four categories; meat option, meat-free, gluten-free, and nut-free.
To receive a FUEL UP bag, head to the third-floor public services desk at Steely Library and fill out the short form. Once complete, place the meal request with a staff member at the desk to receive a meal bag. Bags are available any time during open library hours while supplies last and are first come, first served.
The partnership is an active step in Steely's continued effort to enhance the culture of service orientation, implement innovations to remove student financial barriers, and cultivate a sense of belonging for all students.
