Here are some helpful definitions for determining the appropriate sample protocol:
- Waiver of documentation - A waiver of documentation is requested if the PI does not want to collect an actual signature on the consent form. This might be used if the data collection is taking place electronically. An informed consent document (electronic or paper) will still be used. The study must meet certain criteria for this request to be granted.
- Waiver of consent - A waiver of consent is requested if the PI is requesting to not collect consent in any way. The study must meet certain criteria for this request to be granted.
