Thank you for your interest in conducting research at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). Requests to recruit NKU students for research conducted by anyone who is not a student of, or employed by, NKU, must be vetted by the Manager of Research Compliance and approved by the Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and Dean of Students.

REQUIREMENTS

  • External researchers must show proof that the research is supported by a department at NKU.
  • Proof of external IRB approval.

PROCEDURE

The following procedure is required for approval to recruit NKU students:

Initial Inquiry

  • The external researcher submits to the Manager of Research Compliance:
    • Confirmation of NKU department support (email, letter, etc.).
    • A copy of the IRB approval letter from the external institution for confirmation of IRB approval.
  • The Manager of Research Compliance, or designee, replies to the researcher and copies the Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and Dean of Students, to affirm receipt of NKU departmental support and external IRB approval.
