“They [NKU professors] pushed me to want to make a difference in the lives of students and I feel that this is a city where I can really do that.”
Allison Asbury graduated NKU with a bachelors in Middle Grades Math and Special Education in 2015 and now works at KIPP Ascend Middle School in the North Lawndale neighborhood in Chicago.
She teaches their self-contained special education math class to grades 5-8. Her professors at NKU are a huge reason why she was confident enough to extend her job search to Chicago. Some advice that Allison would give to students would be to push yourself outside of your comfort zone by joining new clubs, meeting new people and networking within your department.
