What are you up to now?

I’m a partner at Wood Herron & Evans LLP. I am Publications Officer of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association and Chair its Books Editorial Board. My practice focuses on publishing, media and software work, and I have written or contributed to four books:

Guide to Rights Clearance & Permissions: in scholarly, educational, and trade publishing (June 2018)

Writing and Developing Your College Textbook: A Comprehensive Guide, 3e (2016)

Guide to Textbook Publishing Contracts (2016)

Canoeing and Kayaking Ohio’s Streams: an Access Guide for Paddlers and Anglers (1994)

How did NKU help you on your journey?

Since NKU had a night program, I was able to attend law school while working full time in the publishing business in Cincinnati. That intersection of law and publishing launched me on my way to what became a pretty unusual practice niche for a midwestern lawyer.

What is some advice you would give to prospective/current students?

"Follow your passion. Ultimately that is what will set you off from your competition."
