“NKU has helped me to obtain this dream by pushing me to not only achieve my goals, but to push beyond them, to want more.”
Michelle Faehr graduated from NKU in 2013 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology (Track: Ecology, evolution and organismal). After graduating, Michelle took an internship at the zoo and continued to volunteer there after her internship ended.
She currently works as a full-time zookeeper at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden at the World of the Insect specializing in the husbandry of native and exotic beetles, cockroaches and millipedes. Michelle also works with other invertebrates and amphibians and reptiles while teaching the public about them.
Michelle owes her success to professors who she stills keeps in contact with and encourages students to network as much as possible.
Her advice would be to dream big and chase those dreams. She wants students to know that they might not acquire their dream job instantly, but consistency and hard work will get them there.
