“I couldn't imagine doing anything else.”
Leann Kane graduated from NKU in 2016 with a Master of Social Work.
Leann is now a licensed social worker with the Department of Public Advocacy (Public Defenders) doing alternative sentencing work. In this job, she visits clients who are living in jail and she works as part of their defense team to find alternatives to incarceration. She advocates for things like diversion, probation, substance use treatment and vocational rehabilitation or anything else her client can benefit from!
Without her masters practicum with DPA and NKU connecting her to the agency, Leann says she would have not found this amazing job. She also would not have considered this job without College of Education and Human Services advisor Deb Henry pointing her in the right direction.
