“I think students should get involved in all that NKU has to offer, including programs and groups within their field of study, build friendships with other students & faculty, and start thinking about how you can get your foot in the door with internships/co-ops pre-graduation.”
Ryan Durbin is a 2013 graduate with a BS in Computer Information Technology and lives in Southgate, KY with his wife, Rachel and his cats, Marble & Autumn.
Ryan currently works as a Web Developer for Citrix Systems Inc., a technology company based in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. As an extension of his Studio Arts minor, he sells his own wheel-thrown pottery locally under the name RD Ceramics.
The most beneficial impact NKU has made on Ryan’s opportunities post-graduation included working at the Center for Applied Informatics learning web development while still a student and supporting students in the STEM programs as a STEM Ambassador. CAI gave him experience early on, allowing him to take an internship pre-graduation, leading to full-time employment in his field after graduation. Ryan’s role as STEM Ambassador helped him create good connections with faculty, working alongside exceptional and driven students and supporting entry-level STEM students by leading tutoring/peer learning sessions.
