Faculty/Staff New Hire

To assist you with preparing for your new job, below is a list of "Next Steps" which contain information and actions to take on or before your first day and beyond.

Note: Once all new hire paperwork has been completed (this includes the background check, new hire documents and I9 verification) and you are fully hired into our system, the following will occur:

An email titled “Welcome to Norse Nation” – will be sent to your personal email account containing:

• Your NKU username
• Your NKU personnel number
• Your NKU email address

With this information, you will be able to:

• Set-up/create a password for your email – https://password.nku.edu/
• Set-up payroll tax (W4) using the Employee Self Service Tab in the myNKU portal.
• Obtain a parking pass (if working on campus) from Parking Services https://inside.nku.edu/parking.html 400 Nunn Drive (Welcome Center); 859-572-5505.
• Obtain an AllCard NKU ID (if working on campus) from the AllCard Administration Office https://inside.nku.edu/allcard.html - Student Union Ste. 120; 859-572-6016.
• Sign up for NKU Emergency Alert System (Norse Alert) in the myNKU portal.

Other:

• Benefits eligible employees will receive an email invitation to a virtual Benefits Orientation during your first month of employment. New employees are required to attend an orientation on benefits, pay, parking and policy issues that are important to you as a new hire.  An orientation for new faculty is held at the beginning of each academic year. Employees are given the opportunity to enroll or waive coverage.

• Compliance Training – you will receive an email invitation to complete new employee compliance training.
