Dear Campus Community:
With deep sadness, I share news of the passing of Darrin McMillen. Darrin, a graduate of Northern Kentucky University’s Accountancy program, was pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership degree here. He passed away on July 13, 2022.
Darrin, 47, was well-known for his infectious energy and free-hearted, loving nature. His roles in education—teacher, professor, advisor, coordinator—made a memorable impact on the countless colleagues and students he encountered during his career.
Losing a member of our campus community impacts each of us, so please remember, it is always OK to ask for the help you need. For our students, Health, Counseling, and Student Wellness’ counselors and support services can be reached by calling (859) 572-5650. Darrin has been remembered as a “captivating, larger-than-life soul who met few strangers during his life.” He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. I send my deep sympathies to his family, friends and to the campus community.
